二元函数理论是其他学科的基础，其中极值是函数中的重要内容，对极值也有很多研究方法，并且函数极值的理论有很多在生活中都有实际意义。无论是在科学研究，还是在物流，实际规划工程，通常要解决如何使投资量输出最大，产出最多，最高效率优化。这些实际问题都可以转化为一个数学问题来研究，进而转化为函数的极大值、极小值问题的解决。在本文中，首先给出的是二元函数的研究背景及现实意义，之后给出二元函数的非条件极值理论，二元函数条件极值理论，二元函数极值的判定，以及二元函数极值的理论应用举例。通过实例中的极值问题，说明所利用知识在求解二元函数极值问题中的重要应用。
