教学和科研是各大专院校的两项中心工作，教学质量决定了培养人才质量的高低，科研水平是高校综合实力的重要标志。近年来，各大中专院校越来越重视自身的科研工作。九江学院传统的科研管理主要依赖人工，并借助Office等办公软件进行各种数据登记、查询、统计等操作，科研管理花费了大量的人力、物力、财力和时间，而且效率低下，出错率较高，数据共享性差。
