船舶自动识别系统（AIS）是一种综合了卫星定位、陀螺罗经、计程仪等导航设备的信息，通过VHF数据链向外播发与接收相应信息，并在雷达或电子海图等显示设备上显示周边船舶位置及航行动态信息的新型导航通信系统。通过AIS获取到所需船舶的动态及静态信息，就可以对船舶进行全方位、实时的监控。
船舶实时监控系统是利用自动识别系统AIS、电子海图系统、数据库技术对所有装有AIS设备的船舶进行监控。监控中心通过串口接收AIS接收机传来的AIS数据电文，解析后一边送到AIS船舶数据库存储，一边直接送到电子海图平台上进行实时显示，用户在电子海图平台上通过读取AIS船舶数据库来获得所需船舶信息。
本文系统分析了当前AIS发展状况，介绍了AIS的组成、网络体系结构、与AIS信息处理相关的接口协议，提出系统的总体设计方案并对系统的功能进行划分，然后以VisualC6．0为开发工具，对AIS信息电文进行解析处理，并把解析后的数据存储到SQLServer数据库中。系统通过测试基本能达到设计的要求。
